Everything Happens for a Reason

Generally, I am a “everything happens for a reason” kinda girl. I was talking to a friend the other day about abuse she suffered as a child and my positivity was escaping me. Of course my shower thoughts tonight led me down a path. I know people who are good teachers either because they had one or needed one, people who have experienced trauma that want to counsel and help others. People who needed help at one point and are now able to help others. People who needed marijuana for medical reasons who have been driven to help others, and people accused of taking other’s lives only to spend theirs bringing people’s families peace. Maybe this abuse has changed this person into being the mother her child needs. Everything that anyone goes through that sticks with them does so for a reason. It resonates in their soul and changes them at some level, whether they realize it or not. Maybe these are only the positive spins, but as people heal, change and grow they are able to incorporate these experiences into who they are and they wouldn’t be the same without them. Whatever challenges you are facing, pause and realize that eventually you will be on the other side of it and you can either use it to make you or break you. It’s not to say that some things aren’t horrible, but they are important in a way that you might not see at the time and are instrumental in making you who you are.

Life is Too Short (May 2021)

Life is too short to:

to judge people who live their lives on their terms

to read books or watch anything that doesn’t interest you

as someone brought up recently, if something isn’t a HELL YA, it’s a no.

to not love fully

to not give all of yourself to relationships in your life

to be around anyone who doesn’t earn you

to be with anyone you don’t love

to be at a job that doesn’t make you happy

to close yourself down to love

to lie to yourself

to lie to anyone else

to not follow your dreams

to not make money you would be happy making

to feel GUILTY about ANYTHING-guilt is a useless emotion

to not speak up when you need to

to not spend the moments you can with people you love

to not keep growing and changing as you need to and as makes you happy

to not put yourself out there

to pick people apart instead of focusing on yourself

to let negative moods and traits of people rub off

to hold grudges that are only hurting yourself

to stay injured by your past for too long

to talk shit to anyone doing what they want

to not skinny dip

to feel stuck, you can always change your life

to not help when you can

to start over when you need to

to let things go

to never do things that scare you

to not take chances

to not tell the people you love that you love them

to dwell on the past for too long instead of moving towards the future

to feel sorry for yourself

to be self absorbed

to be angry and hold on to that anger

to not do what you want when you want to without judgement

to not recognize areas for growth

It is true that something at rest stays at rest and things in motion stay in motion. Move towards making your life yours. At whatever pace you can. Small steps, large leaps. LIVE.
